Pastor Richard went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Richard Merle ?Dick? Kalbach was born a son of Wilford Leroy and Ruth Mildred (Palmer) Kalbach on September 27, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA. Dick grew up in Haddon Heights, NJ where he graduated from high school. After graduating from high school, Dick felt a calling to follow his father?s footsteps in serving his Lord. Dick attended Philadelphia College of the Bible, Northeastern Collegiate Bible Institute and Practical Bible Training School, now known as Davis College. During the summertime from school, Dick worked at the Hilltop Ranch in Rising Sun, MD. While working at the Hilltop Ranch, Dick met another co-worker, a young woman by the name of Carol Rae Gaines. Dick and Carol were married on June 8, 1968 in Sandy Cove, Northeast, MD. The Lord has blessed Dick and Carol with over 38 years of marriage. In 1968 until 1973, Dick worked as the Camping Program Director for Hilltop Ranch. In 1973, Dick reached a new plateau in his service for the Lord. Dick and his family moved to Broadus, MT, where Pastor Dick became the residing pastor of First Baptist Church. In 1975, Dick and his family moved to Worland, WY, where he received a call to pastor Grace Baptist Church. In 1980, Dick accepted a position to teach at Maryland Baptist College in Elkton, MD. Dick enjoyed teaching, but his calling as a pastor once again in 1986, took him and his family back to Worland to Grace Baptist Church. In 1990, Dick and his family left Worland and moved to Sweet Home, OR. While in Sweet Home, Dick and a friend started a water well repair business, by the name of K & B Pump Service. Dick not only found the need for water wells to be fixed, but also saw the need for spiritual growth in Sweet Home. Grace Remnant Baptist Church was the name of Dick?s new church, where he continued to pastor to the needs of the people for the next 15 years, until his retirement. In March of 2006, Dick and his family moved to their sons? ranch southeast of Baker, MT, where they have resided since. Dick was an accomplished musician, and could play multiple instruments. He enjoyed playing music with his family, and helping his sons and other local ranchers with the farming. His greatest love was for his Lord and Savior, and his family. Dick is survived by his wife, Carol Kalbach, Baker, MT; his children: Donald (Thu) Kalbach, Seattle, WA; Phil (Laura) Kalbach, Baker, MT; Stephen Kalbach, Rachel Kalbach, Michael Kalbach and Sarah Kalbach, of the family home; his sister, Betty Lou (Mike) Mann, Fayetteville, GA and five grandchildren, Daniel Kalbach, Elisabeth Kalbach, Nathan Kalbach, Esther Kalbach and Jonathan Kalbach.
