Funeral Mass for Richard Koppinger, 73, of Dickinson, ND will be 11:00 a. m. , Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND with Father Todd Kreitinger celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Cemetery, South Heart, ND. Military Rites will be by the Dickinson Honor Guard following the Mass. Visitation for Richard will be from 12:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. , Monday, December 5, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Monday from 5:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church with a Rosary & Vigil service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home. Richard passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at Medcenter One Health Center, Bismarck, ND. Richard Frank Koppinger was born January 8, 1938 in Hettinger County, ND the son of Nick and Theresa (Knaup) Koppinger. He grew up and attended school in Lefor graduating from Lefor High School in 1956. After graduation, Richard joined the United States Marines serving for two years. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Dickinson where he worked at Queen City Lumber. It was during this time that he met Alice Tuhy. The couple was united in marriage on August 30, 1960. To this union eight children were born: Jerry, Gene, Rob, Sandy, Laurie, baby boy Koppinger, Ken and Donna. Together, they raised their family, farmed, and milked cows. After Alice passed away in 1992, Richard continued to live on the farm. He later met Cecelia ?Whitey? Barth and the couple married on October 16, 1999. Together, they moved to Dickinson where they have made their home since. Richard enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, gardening, dancing and making frequent trips to the casinos. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus of South Heart Council 9043, a Golden Member of the Eagles, member of the Farmers Union, board member of SW Grain, past member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in South Heart and a very active member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Dickinson. Richard especially loved and enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his step-children and step-grandchildren. He was always very generous to them. Richard is survived by his wife, Whitey, Dickinson; four sons, Jerry (Jeanne) Koppinger, Cheyenne, WY and their children, Heather and Nick; Gene (LeeAnn) Koppinger, Baker, MT and their children, Eric and Kyle; Rob (Mary) Koppinger, Bismarck, ND and their children, Chris and Matt; Ken (DeeDee) Koppinger, Dickinson, ND and their children, Cody, Katie and Jordan; three daughters, Sandy (Shayne) Steckler, Dickinson, ND and their children, James and Tyler; Laurie Koppinger, Gillette, WY and her children, Tara and Wyatt; Donna (Kij) Rohr, Killdeer, ND and their children, Ashton, Trenton and Jonas; a step-son, Randy (Steph) Barth, Bismarck, ND and their children, Kierra, Isaac and Macy; two step-daughters, Della (Tom) Messer, Dickinson, ND, and their children, Kayla (Austin) Porter, Nicole and Lynae; Kim (Jayme) Glasser, Bismarck, ND and their child, Krista; two brothers, Max (Bea) Koppinger, Phoenix, AZ and Bob (Vernice) Koppinger, Marshall, MN; one sister, Rosemary Riesinger, Dickinson, ND; one sister-in-law, Eleanor (Cliff) Walter, Dickinson, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Theresa Koppinger; wife, Alice Koppinger; one infant son; two brothers, John and Jerry Koppinger; a brother-in-law, Frank Riesinger; and a granddaughter, Kimberly.
