Richard Dale Kupka, 83, of Dickinson, ND, formerly of Zap, ND passed away January 18, 2008 at Evergreen in Dickinson, ND. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Richard Dale Kupka was born October 26, 1924 to Lewis and Alma (Clifton) Kupka in Zap, ND. He spent his childhood living in Zap, ND as well as some time in both Alaska and Washington. After high school, Richard enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the European Theater during World War II. Following the War, Richard was discharged and returned to Washington and began working for the State Ferry System. He continued in the department near the Seattle area until he retired in 1984. Richard later moved to Dickinson, ND where he spent over 15 years as a resident of Evergreen. Richard was an avid reader, enjoyed playing his guitar as well as traveling through out the country. He was very diligent in staying in touch with friends and family by correspondence or phone calls. He will be missed very much by his family and friends. In accordance with Richard?s wishes there will be no public services. He is survived by many numerous cousins. He was preceded by both of his parents and son, Ardie Patton.
