Richard W. ?Dick? Mueller, 79, died Thursday, March 25, 2004 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p. m. , Monday, March 29, 2004, at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church, Dickinson, ND with Father Austin Vetter celebrating. Military Rites will be provided by the Dickinson Veterans Drill Team. Interment will be 1:00 p. m. (CT) Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND. Visitation will be from noon to 3 p. m. at Price-Murphy Funeral Home and from 4:00 ? 9:00 p. m. , Sunday at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church with a rosary and memory sharing held at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. ? 1:00 p. m. , Monday, March 29, 2004, at Price Murphy Funeral Home. Richard W. ?Dick? Mueller was born April 14, 1924, at the family home in Adams County, North Dakota to parents George and Bertha (Slater) Mueller. He attended Hettinger High School. Dick served in the U. S. Army from 1943-1945. This included the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from Dickinson State Teachers College and excelled in athletics. He married Bernice Markel on September 1, 1954. Dick was in the insurance business. The next five years, they resided in Mott, ND and had purchased Lucky Lanes. In 1973, they purchased the Paragon Bowl, which he continued to operate til his death. In 1988, he was inducted into the Dickinson State University Athletic Hall of Fame followed by the induction into the Dickinson Bowling Hall of Fame and the North Dakota State Bowling Hall of Fame. He participated in a variety of activities/hobbies (hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, horse shoes and playing pool and cards). He is survived by: his wife: Bernice, six children: Richard, Jr. (Janie Peters) Mueller (Dickinson, ND), James Mueller (Amarillo, TX), Mary Jo (Ivan) Turner (Littleton, CO), John (Lois) Mueller (Dickinson, ND), Josef (Catherine) Mueller (Spokane, WA), Patrick (Suzie) Mueller, (Bismarck, ND), sisters: Irene Greteman, (Beardsley, MN), Marium Leathers, (Seattle, WA), Margaret Riedl, (Hettinger, ND), brother: Jerald (Marie) Mueller, (Missoula, MT), and grandchildren: Michael Mueller, Brian Mueller, Adriane Mueller, Jenna Mueller, Jill Mueller, Kyle Mueller, Brooke Mueller, Lucas Mueller, and Josef Mueller. He was preceded in death by: one brother, George Mueller; four sisters, Marie Snyder, Rosie Reister, Lena Johnson, and Annie Johnston.
