Funeral Mass for Richard A. Sadowsky,79, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. Monday, September 11, 2006 at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in DickinsonWith Father Claude Seaberger celebrating. Entombment will take place at Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel with Rosary and Vigil Services at 7:00 p. m. Richard passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at SCCI Hospital in Mandan, ND with family by his side. Richard Anton Sadowsky was born July 21, 1927 to Frank and Caroline Kadrmas Sadowsky on the family farm in Dunn County. He grew up and attended country schools and eventually attended grade school at New Hradec before finishing high school in Dickinson at Model High. After graduation Dick enlisted in the US Navy where he served one tour of duty. After being honorably discharged he returned home to Dickinson, where he worked for MDU and then Cenex. It was during this time that Dick met Emily Splichal. The two were married on November 5, 1947 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dickinson. The couple made their home in Dickinson for a year before moving to the farm north of town. It was here that they raised their children. Dick and Emma made their home there until 1995 when they retired to Dickinson. Dick was a very accomplished musician playing the drums for various bands including the Chuck Kadrmas Band for over 35 years. He loved spending time with his family and cherished their gatherings. Dick also enjoyed playing cards, old time band videos, and music. He was a member of St. Anthony Club, Knights of Columbus, Czech Heritage Club, KD Club and St. Patrick?s Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Emma of Dickinson; two sons, Kerry (Linda Dukart) Sadowsky, Pelican Rapids, MN; Rick (Laura Conrad) Sadowsky, Ankeny, IA; four daughters, Karen (Stan) Goehring, Underwood, ND; Audrey (Terry) Morey, Dickinson, ND; Debbie (Chad) Stroh, Mandan, ND; Jackie Knutson, Fargo, ND; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Milly Sadowsky, Rapid City, SD, Mary Engelhardt, Bismarck, ND; three nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: George and Laudie; three sisters: Gladys, Virginia and Edith.
