Richard Schneider, age 82, of the Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, formerly of Hebron, died Thursday, April 10 2008 at the Elm Crest. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the First Congregational UCC church in Hebron. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-8 PM at Spangelo Funeral Home in Hebron with prayer services at 7:00 PM and will continue on Monday one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in the Congregational Cemetery in Hebron. Richard was born September 12, 1925, on the farm in rural Hebron, the son of Henry and Helen (Sayler) Schneider. He was raised on the farm and educated in rural schools. He married Lorine Kessler, November 19, 1953 at the New Glueckstal Church north of Glen Ullin. Following marriage they settled on the farm. They farmed until 1979 when they moved to Hebron and Richard took employment at the John Deere implement in Dickinson and later at Richardton. Wanting to work closer to home he took the maintenance position at the rest area?s near Hebron for several years, and at the last worked for Dale Heinle on the farm. Due to declining health he entered the Elm Crest Manor at New Salem late last year. Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Lorine, Hebron; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lavonne and Pat Schwartzenberger, Mandan; Candace and Stephen Wolff, Dickinson, ND; his three grandchildren: Cora Rabenberg, Lisa Schwartzenberger, Jessie Sickler; and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Esther Rosin, Elgin, ND and Alma Mernitz, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents.
