Funeral Service for Richard ?Dick? Steiber, 74, of Glendive, MT will be 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT. Interment will follow in the family lot in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker with Military Rites by the Baker American Legion, Fallon Post #35. Dick passed away on October 18, 2007 in University Hospital in Denver, CO. Richard LeRoy Steiber was born in Reeder, ND on March 19, 1933 to Vincent B. and Jessie Ann (Welch) Steiber. As a young boy, Dick moved with his family to Baker, MT where he attended schools, graduating from Baker High School in 1953. After graduation, Dick joined the United States Navy. He proudly served his country, and was honorably discharged. Dick returned to Baker, where he worked for the Montana State Highway Department. In the mid 1960?s, Dick went to work for Western Geophysical Seismograph Company. Dick met a very special lady by the name of Donna Defferding. Dick and Donna were married on August 8, 1974 in Williston, ND. To this union Julynne and Jaymes were born. Dick eventually worked his way up through the ranks to Party Manager, working through out the Northern Rockies Division. Dick worked through out the Dakota?s, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. After 20 years, Dick retired from Western Geophysical, moving to Missoula where he and Donna started a new adventure when they purchased a Town Pump store. After a couple of years, Dick and Donna sold the store and moved to Seattle, WA where Dick took a job as a security guard, eventually working for Air Data Delivery Company. Due to medical reasons, Dick and Donna moved to Billings, MT. While in Billings, Dick worked for Wal-Mart as a door greeter. As his health declined, Dick moved to Glendive, where he lived until the time of his death. Dick was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dick enjoyed fishing, joking with people and loved children. His greatest enjoyment in life was for his family. He is survived by: his wife, Donna Steiber, Billings, MT; a daughter, Julynne ?Lynn? (Irvin) Ward, Blackwell, OK; a son, Jaymes Steiber, Vashon, WA; one sister, Dorothy Getz, Glendive, MT; 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Vincent and Jessie Steiber, two brothers, Leslie Steiber and Milan Steiber, five sisters, Edythe Brown, Janet Sipma, Irene Walker, Doris Steiber, Marie Waldow and a grandson, Joey Scott Loveless. Arrangements are under the direction of Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
