Rick Rakowski

Ricky Rakowski, 60, of Dickinson, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016 at his residence. Private family services are being held. Ricky J. was born July 27, 1955 on Parks Air Force Base in California, the son of John and Lucille (Skoglund) Rakowski. He attended Oslo School in Minnesota, graduating in 1973. Rick joined the US Army and was stationed in Fair Banks, AK until his honorable discharge in 1975. Rick married Effie Narlock on June 30, 1974. To this union, three children were born, Michael, Ricky Jr. , and Randy. He moved to Mayville in 1976, living there most of his life, until recently moving to Dickinson. Rick had 38 years of employment as a telephone technician with Century Link, Quest, US West and Northwestern Bell. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Ricky is survived by his three sons, Michael (Jennifer) and family of Burleson, TX, Ricky Jr. (Mara) and family of Montoursville, PA, Randy (Jana) and family of Bismarck, ND; best friends, Effie and Ken Hodek; eight grandchildren; parents, John and Lucille Rakowski; brother, Jeff (Tina) and family of Grand Forks, ND; sister, Vickie Pribula and family of E. Grand Forks, MN. He was preceded in death by his brother Anthony Rakowksi, grandparents, Helen Buckner and Mannie and Ann Skoglund.
