Funeral Services for Robert D. Gorder, 76, of Baker, MT will be at 2:00 p. m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT with Pastors Bruce and Reba Kolasch officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker, with Military rites being provided by the Baker American Legion, Fallon Post #35. Visitation will be 2:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on June 15th, at Stevenson Funeral Home. Robert passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in Billings, MT as a result of a motor vehicle crash. Robert Donald Gorder was born in Bowman, ND, on September 23, 1932, a son of Clarence and Hannah (Loney) Gorder. He grew up on a farm where they raised milk cows and attended country school near Veblen, SD. In his spare time as a kid, he would ride his trap line by horse with his dog right up there in the saddle with him. In 1952, Robert joined the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Upon his Honorable discharge in 1953, he was awarded the Conduct Medal, Korean Service medal, one Bronze Star, a Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and a ROK Presidential Unit Citation. Following his discharge, Robert went to work driving truck for many companies such as Paraffin, Rock Island, Northern, D & M Water and Tri-State. Robert also worked many years for D & D Oilfield. Robert met and married Cathy Miloff in 1966. Together they raised six children. The two later divorced but remained close friends throughout the years. In his spare time he liked to tinker on things. He was known as Grandpa Bob by many kids. Robert is survived by his children, Gary (Pam) Gorder of Baker, MT, Lonnie (Jodi) Gorder of Belgrade, MT, Ronnie Gorder of Bozeman, MT and Robin (special friend James Gregory) of Lead, SD; two brother, Roy (Violet) Gorder of Black Eagle, MT and Gary (Cheryl) Gorder of Fargo, ND; two sister in-laws, Norma Gorder of Billings, MT and Janet Gorder of Alaska; four grandchildren, Darick (Michelle) Gorder, Dustin Gorder, Donna (special friend Trenton Harbaugh) Gorder and Jordyn Gorder; four great-grandchildren, Jacey Gorder, Briley Gorder, Ryann Gorder and Jada Harbaugh and his former wife and friend, Cathy Gorder of Baker, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hannah, two sons, Eddy Clark and Terry Gorder and three brothers, David and Vera Gorder, Ray Gorder and Clarence Gorder. Arrangements are under the care of Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
