Funeral Services for Bob Irvine will be 11:00 a. m. , Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the American Lutheran Church in Baker with Pastors Bruce and Reba Kolasch officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker. Viewing and Family Receiving Friends will be on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 1:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Robert Jr. “Bob” Irvine passed over to join his Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born December 13, 1927 in Baker to R. W. & Gertrude (North) Irvine and was raised on the family homestead southwest of Baker. He graduated from Baker High school, then continued his education at Bozeman at Montana State University and graduated with a degree in Agriculture. He served in the U. S. Army as a discharge processor starting in 1947 until he received his honorable discharge. He then returned to Montana and took a position with the soil conservation service in Circle. It was during this time that Bob met Delores Propper. The two were married in 1957. Bob returned to the family farm in 1960 and continued to farm & ranch, raising certified seed and cattle until his retirement in 2008. Besides farming and ranching, Bob remained active in conservation, serving on the Fallon County weed board for 22 years; including presenting and shepherding a bill through the National Soil Conservations Service convention to require states to maintain weed management practices on state owned lands. Just prior to and through his retirement, he lived in Acadia, Florida and Rapid City, South Dakota, and developed many friends in both locations, while maintaining many lifelong friendships in Montana. While in retirement, he continued his love of singing and while in Florida, was part of a men’s quartet called the “The Four Statesmen”. He is survived by his wife Delores (Propper) Irvine of Rapid City, his sons Cabot Irvine of Rapid City, Mark Irvine in Columbia Falls, Montana, and daughter Kathy (Irvine) Wood of Rolla, Missouri. Robert had 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Wilbur Irvine & Gertrude North Irvine; his brother, Lloyd Irvine; and a sister, Carol Bechtold.
