Liturgy of the Word service for Robert J. Roth, 82, of Gladstone will be 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. CDT at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
Visitation for Robert will be from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary & Vigil Service taking place at 7:00 p m.
Robert passed away Friday, August 3, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson.
Robert Roth was born September 18, 1929 in Belfield, ND. At an early age, they moved to Mott where he completed his schooling and graduated from High School in 1947. In June of 1947, Robert enlisted into the United States Navy and served on the USS Leyte and USS Sicily during the Korean War. After being Honorably Discharged on December 29, 1951, Robert returned to Mott where he worked with his step-father in the plumbing and heating business. On February 16, 1957, Robert and Regina Raab were united in marriage in Mott. Together they purchased sole ownership of Roth Excavation. During their years in Mott, the couple designed and built a new home. In 1997, after retiring they moved their home southwest of Gladstone where they have made their home since. Robert took great pride in taking care of his yards, both in Mott and later in the country. Together, they enjoyed going on extensive trips to various places of historic significance. Robert was a very active member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion, serving as Past Commander of the Mott American Legion. He was proud to have been part of building the Veterans Memorial in Mott as well as being chosen to represent North Dakota in Washington, D. C. when the Korean Memorial was dedicated. Robert was also a member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight, Chef Degar of 40 and 8, and member of the Honor Guard for many burials and memorial services.
Robert is survived by his wife, Regina; four brothers, Don, Bud, Matt and Jerry; and two sisters, Jeanette and Betty.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
