Roberta Rost

Funeral Service for Roberta L. Rost, 84, of Baker, MT will be 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at American Lutheran Church in Baker with Pastors Bruce & Reba Kolasch officiating. Interment will follow in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be 4:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Friday October 7th, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Roberta ?Bert? Lucille Rost was born November 29, 1926 in Griffin, ND to Rudolph and Frances (Williams) Keller. Roberta was the oldest of 12 children, grew up in the Bowman and Marmarth, North Dakota areas and would later graduate from Marmarth High School in 1944. Bert met the love of her life (Orville Rost) near the Old Nick?s Caf? Ice-Cream Parlor. Bert first admired Orville while he was playing in a basketball game in Marmarth. Their courtship consisted of a few stolen hugs and kisses on the old trail between Carlyle, MT and Marmarth. Bert married the love of her life at the American Lutheran Church on November 29, 1945. They lived in the Ollie area until moving to Baker in 1947. They later moved to Washington and back to Baker in 1958. To this union the couple had three children, Sharma, Glenn and Brenda. Bert worked at the Economy Grocery store for many years. Roberta loved working for and with the LaCross family and working for the public. ?Sarge?, as they affectionately called her, also dearly loved her co-workers, Florence Quenzer, Fred Uecker and Judy Stanhope, to name a few. Roberta worked until life took an overwhelming twist for her. Orville took Roberta to Rochester, MN and later to Seattle, WA to confirm the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Roberta never let this disease take away her independence, pride, compassion, or her zest for life; the inseparable couple continued to do everything as before, until Orville?s passing. In later years, Bert was asked by Vern and Jeannie Jacobsen if she would be interested in working out of her home, providing an answering service for their bulk plant. Bert loved this as it was extra income and allowed her to continue her independence. The Jacobsen?s were good to Bert and she loved them. Bert continued to care for her family at home, was proud of her yard, her plants and loved all animals, especially canaries; occasionally they had parakeets, cats and a stray dog or two. Family was top priority to Roberta and throughout the years many family vacations were taken to Washington, family gatherings at the family home and many, many hunting and fishing trips with all kinds of family and friends. Roberta lived in the Fallon Medical Complex-Nursing Home for over 19 years and gained many new friendships there. Roberta was always concerned about speaking for the residents that could not and getting better pay for the Nurses and CNA?s. Roberta loved her new family at FMC with all her heart. Bert?s family was by her side until the Angels came to take her home on September 29th (a day she chose to share with her granddaughter, Angela as it was her birthday). Survivors include her son Glenn (Gay) of Blackhawk, SD; daughters, Sharma Bledsoe and Brenda (Donald) Wood of Baker; Sister, Ramona Lowe of Blackfoot, Idaho; Half Sisters, Jacqueline (Darrel) Rost of Miles City, MT; Sharon Timm of Bowman, ND; Half Brothers, Keith (Nancy) Keller of Benson, AZ; Terry Keller of Bowman, ND; Roland ?Red?
