Rodger Nupen of Longmont died September 23, 2008 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 61. He was born July 6, 1947 in Killdeer, ND to Arthur and Olga (Sloan) Nupen. He was raised on the family ranch in Whetstone, ND west of Killdeer. He married Donna Gabbert on July 19, 1969 in Dickinson, ND. They farmed and ranched west of Killdeer below the mountains along with their three children, Sara, Justin and Amy. They lived on the family ranch until moving to the Longmont area in 1998. He was a rancher and heavy equipment operator, and he took great pride in his work. Rodger loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, and going to the mountains. He loved all animals, especially horses. He enjoyed rodeos and everything related to them. Most of all he loved his home in North Dakota and spending time there. He was a well respected member of the community and enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. His strength and patience will continue to live on in everything and everyone he touched. He will be greatly missed!He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Shirley Schwindt. He is survived by his wife Donna of Longmont, one son Justin (Sarah) of Killdeer, ND; two daughters Sara Corner (Chris) of Winter Garden, FL, and Amy Nupen of Superior, CO; one brother Arnold Nupen (Sydney) of Killdeer, ND; one sister Ardella Bechtle of Bismarck, ND; and one grandchild Colten Corner and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service 10:30 AM Monday September 29, at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Killdeer, ND. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rodger Nupen Memorial Fund for Whetstone Community Cemetery.
