A funeral service for Roger V. Anderson, 80, of Dickinson will be 10:30 a. m. , Monday, August 15, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Reeder, ND. Visitation for Roger will be from 2:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. , Sunday, August 14 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a prayer service being held at 4:00 p. m. Roger passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck. Roger Van Alen Anderson was born on January 26, 1936 in Reeder, ND to Viggo and Alma (Askland) Anderson. Roger grew up on the family farm in the Reeder, ND area, where he attended elementary and secondary school at Reeder High School. Roger went to college at North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo ND, where he majored in Agricultural Economics with a minor in Chemistry. Roger and Marjorie Schwartz were married at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Reeder, ND on September 29, 1956. After their wedding, Roger and Marjorie moved to the family farm three miles east of Reeder. For most of his life Roger worked in road and bridge construction, both owning his own company and working for others in North Dakota and Colorado. After retiring in 2000, Roger ultimately came back to North Dakota, settling in Dickinson. Roger took great joy in antiques, tools, trains, tractors, North Dakota and World War II history. He loved scouring remote shops, museums, and garage sales in search of hidden treasures. Roger was involved in numerous community activities including the Elks, Jesters and the El Zagal Shrine, where he was Potentate. He was also a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson, ND. Roger is survived by: His children, Marcie (Koger) Propst of Denver, CO; Bradley Anderson of Parker, CO; daughter-in-law Robbie Anderson of Parker, CO. Roger was blessed with eight grandchildren: Luke (Karly) Propst, Matt (Emily) Propst, Konnor and Zach Propst, Nathan, Jamie and Jessica (Jamie) Bump, and Kali Kisch. He also is survived by four great grand-daughters: Aspen and Cassidy Anderson, Ruby Propst and Eloise Propst. Marjorie, his son, Curtis and his parents, Viggo and Alma Anderson preceded him in death.
