Roland Patrick Olsson, 62, of Dickinson, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2002 at Hilltop Home of Comfort, Killdeer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 28, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Dennis Schafer celebrating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Military Rites will be provided by the Dickinson Veterans Drill Team. Visitation will be held at Price-Murphy Funeral Home on Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Roland Olsson was born June 29, 1940, in Austin, Minnesota to Olav Brur Olsson and Marian Cecelia (Dardis) Olsson. Shortly after, they moved to Bottinneau, ND and then to Dickinson. He spent a lot of time in Killdeer on his grandparent’s farm. He attended school at St. Joseph’s School and Central High School. He joined the Navy on July 30, 1958. After his discharge he worked for Kolling Construction, Husky Briqueting for 11 years, Wagner Brothers Construction, Northland Oil Company, Custom Contractors, Pump Systems and his last job was at Beall Trailers of Dakota for 14 years until his illness. He married his loving wife, Darlene Tuhy, on July 13, 1973. He was a member of the Dickinson Eagles, Free Spirit Trikers, Brothers of the Third Wheel and A.B.A.T.E. of North Dakota. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed working in the garage, fabricating things, working on trikes, triking and yard work.
Roland is survived by: his wife, Darlene of 28 years, Dickinson; two sons, Wayde (fiancée “Satch”), Dickinson, Cody (Jen), Gillette, Wyo; one sister, Patricia (Donald) Kukla, Fargo, ND; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton and Julie Tuhy and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and one brother, Robert “Bobby” Olsson.
