Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Rabe, 72, of Baker, MT will be at 10:00 a. m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at St. John?s Catholic Church in Baker with the Reverend Father Thomas Tobin celebrating. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Anthony?s Catholic Cemetery at Plevna, MT. Visitation will be 4:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Tuesday, September 14th, at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. Ron passed away on Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker, MT after a long struggle with cancer. Ronald David Rabe was born December 4, 1937, to Carl and Adeena (Hoenke) Rabe in Baker, MT. He spent his early years on the farm near Lame Jones Creek, south of Plevna. He went to the Lame Jones School, and then high school at Plevna. He spent one year at the University of Montana in Missoula, and then returned home to the family farm. After his father?s death in 1968, he and his mother moved to Baker, where he cared for her until her death in 1972. Ron worked in a variety of jobs in Baker, including the meat locker, the courthouse, Anfinson’s, Baker Livestock, and the Baker container site. He met Mary Ruth Wargel and they married in Eldorado, Illinois on June 12, 1976. They welcomed son Adam and daughter Rita to the happy family. Ron loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as photographing wildlife. He practiced recycling, never wanting something to go to waste. Ron especially loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters JoAnn and Carol. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Adam and Rita; son-in-law, David; and his brothers, Melvin and Delbert.
