A Funeral Mass for Rosa Grinsteinner, 89, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Keith Steifel celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Martin’s Cemetery in rural Dodge, North Dakota.
Visitation for Rosa will be 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 4:00 p.m.
Rosa passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson, ND.
Rosa Maria Obrigewitsch was born May 7, 1923, in Dickinson, the daughter of Xavier and Magdaline (Kuntz) Obrigewitsch. She grew up attending country school through the eighth grade. On October 7, 1947, Rosa married Thomas Grinsteinner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton. To this union, six daughters and five sons were born. They lived and farmed the family homestead until 1956, when they moved west of Twin Buttes to continue farming. In 1960, they moved into Halliday, ND. Rosa enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and playing cards, especially hand and foot. She was an avid soap opera and western television watcher. She also watched the daily Mass and Rosary.
Rosa is survived by six daughters, Mary Smith of Bismarck, ND, Alice Grinsteinner of Hazelton, ND, Clara Siirtola of Scottsdale AZ, Elizabeth (Edward) Fischer of Devils Lake, ND, Catherine (Paul) Genz of San Antonio, TX, and Susan (Hal) Akins of Loveland, TX; four sons, Leonard Grinsteinner of Morton, TX, Richard Grinsteinner of Morton, TX, Jacob (Valerie) Grinsteinner of Dickinson, ND, and Thomas Jr. (Sherrie) Grinsteinner of Loveland, TX; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 5 great great-grandchildren three sisters, Eva Mathilda”Tillie” Jordan, Salmina”May” Greff all of Dickinson, and Virginia”Jean” Schmidt of Redding, CA; one sister-in-law, Paulette Obrigewitch of Seattle, WA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; son, Frank Grinsteinner; grandson, Joshua Grinsteinner; brother, John Obrigewitsch; sister, Pauline Rebel; and son-in-law, Francis Siirtola.
