A Private funeral mass for Rosalie Kudrna, 79, of Dickinson, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with Msgr. Thomas Richter celebrating. Rosalie’s Funeral Mass will be open to her family and extended family. Those attending are reminded to practice proper social distancing recommendations. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan. Public visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a rosary and vigil being held at 6:00 p.m.
Rosalie passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Dickinson, after a short battle with cancer.
Rosalie was born October 18, 1940 to Ray and Minnie (Jahner) Messmer. She was raised on a farm in Richardton along with ten siblings, and attended St. Mary’s School.
Rosalie married the love of her life, Wayne Kudrna on October 24, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton. Together they raised their family in Dickinson.
Rosalie worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 40 years and retired in 2011. Rosalie had a very strong faith and always attended daily mass and adoration. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, traveling and having coffee with friends. Rosalie was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the West River Community Center.
Rosalie found great pride in being a homemaker. She loved to cook, bake, can and was always trying new recipes. She had a talent for creating delicious meals at her home, where drop-ins were always welcome.
Most of all she loved to spend time with her family, and spent hours playing cards and games with her children and grandchildren.
Rosalie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Wayne; five children; Doug (Joy) Kudrna, Dickinson, Perry (Gaylene) Kudrna, Rapid City, SD, Cheryl (Carold) Wingerter, Oak Grove, MN, Carol (Kevin) Dahly, Minot, Allan (LaRae) Kudrna, Dickinson; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters; Sr. Stephanie Messmer, Valley Of Our Lady Monastery, WI, Margie Messer, Dickinson, Jeanie (Jim) Barta, San Diego, CA, Bernie (Dennis) Brady, Bismarck; brothers, David (Angie) Messmer, Mandan, Wallace (Kathy) Messmer, Dickinson, Tim (Donna) Messmer, Winnemucca, NV, Ralph Messmer, FT. Mohaue, AZ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Minnie Messmer, brother, Tony Messmer; sister, Annie Messmer; infant sister, Mary; brothers-in-law, Ted and Marvin Messer; sister-in-law, Jackie Messmer; and nieces, Cora Messmer and Mary Messmer-Rosario.
