Rose passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem.

Rose Marie was born August 9, 1932 in Crown Butte, ND, the daughter of George and Katherine (Hatzenbuhler) Sturn.  As a young girl, she attended school through the eighth grade at Crown Butte, ND.  Rose married Conrad V. Doll at St. Pius Catholic Church in New Salem, ND, on October 17, 1950.  Rose and Conrad lived on a farm northeast of New Salem, where they farmed and milked cows until 1982.  They were blessed with four sons, three daughters and a set of twins.  Rose also enjoyed cooking for weddings and school banquets, and for 21 years she planted trees for Morton County Soil Conservation.  After Rose and Conrad moved into New Salem, she was a volunteer and part-time employee at Elm Crest.  She was a faith-filled woman, a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Christian Mothers member and officer, parish council member, rosary leader, and she helped cook for the annual fall festival and meals for the priests. Rose spent many hours playing cards with her sisters, children and grandchildren.  She taught her grandkids how to play pinochle.  Her favorite holiday was Christmas, which was ‘always’ celebrated on Christmas Eve.  Anyone who stopped by to visit, never went home hungry and when they weren’t looking, they’d find more food on their plate than what they started with.  She loved to help out wherever she could.  Always ready to drive friends to doctor appointments or shopping.  Rose opened her home to everyone.  If you needed a place to stay, she’d invite you in, even people off the interstate who needed a bed during a storm. Alongside playing cards and cooking, she enjoyed quilting, puzzles, dancing (old time polkas and waltzes), gardening, a little casino time, traveling and visiting with everyone.  Rose will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Rose is survived by her husband, Conrad; children, Kelly Doll (friend, Pam Woodard) of Kettle Falls, WA, Vickie (Bill) Keuther of New Salem, Cindy (Ted) Gerhardt of New Salem, Chuck (Kelly) Doll of Beulah, Scott (Boni) Doll of Washburn, Bruce (Morgan) Doll of Las Vegas, NV, Penny (Bill) Keller of New Salem; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; siblings, Matt (Clara) Sturn of Bismarck, Ann Doll of Mandan, Frank (Margaret) Sturn of Mandan, Pauline Cushman of Mandan, Caroline (Wesley) Eggers of New Salem; in-laws, Margaret Sturn, George (Beverly) Doll, Agnes (Marvin) Rud.

She was preceded in death by infant twins, Julie and Jeff Doll; brothers, Ralph (wives, Frances and Jeanette), George, Phillip and John (Katie) Sturn; sister, Elizabeth Glasser (husbands, Frank Geiger and Bill Glasser), daughter-in-law, Brenda Doll; in-laws, Matt Doll, Gene Gress, Fred Cushman, Joe Doll, Fred (Eva) Doll, Donna Doll; parents and parents-in-law.
