Rose Ficek

A funeral mass for Rose Mary Ficek, 79, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Monday, December 15, 2014 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation for Rose Mary will be from 3:00 p. m. to 5:00 p. m. , Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil service being held at 4:00 p. m. Rose Mary passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson. Rose Mary was born October 5, 1935 in Gladstone, ND, the daughter of Matt and Anna (Haich) Evinger. She grew up on the family farm south of Halliday and attended school at Dickinson High School and Dickinson State University. On October 8, 1956, Rose Mary and Modest Ficek were united in marriage at St. Phillip in Hirshville. To this union three children were born: Cyndee, Sue and Doug. Together, Rose Mary and Modest moved to the family farm and began raising their family. In 1979, the family moved to Dickinson where Rose Mary enjoyed working as a seamstress and volunteering over the years. Due to failing health, Rose Mary moved into St. Benedict’s in July of 2010. Rose Mary loved gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed baking, cooking, dancing and listening to old time music. Rose Mary is survived by her husband, Modest Ficek of Dickinson; children, Cyndee (Kevin) Schmidt and Sue (Brian) Sadowsky both of Dickinson, ND, and Doug (Roxanne) Ficek of Manning, ND; eight grandchildren, Jason (Sheryl) Schmidt, Chrystal (Joe) Fude, Brandi (Aaron) Dorval, Cora (Steve) Tormaschy, Allison (Fiancé, Seth Combs) Sadowsky, Chad (Special friend, Ashlie Heck) Sadowsky, Tiffany (Casey) Roshau, Darren Ficek (Special friend, Randi Wanner); ten great-grandchildren, Jayden Schmidt, Matthew Schmidt, Logan Fude, Dawson Fude, Sawyer Fude, Morgan Fude, Bridger Fude, Mason Tormaschy, Landon Tormaschy, and Logan Ralph Roshau; brothers, Ernest (Diane) Evinger of Elgin, IL, Don (Jean) Evinger of Hamsphire, IL, Linus (Ann) Evinger of Halliday, ND; sisters, JoAnn (Matt) Bulter of Fargo, ND, and Elaine (Tom) Stromswold of Minneapolis, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Matt.
