Visitation will continue on Saturday, for one hour prior to the service at St. Mary?s Catholic Church. Rose passed away on Friday, October 10, 2008 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND. Rose Elizabeth Flor was born on November 11, 1918, at the Carpenter homestead south of Marmarth, ND on the east side of the Little Missouri River to George and Mary (Biessener) Carpenter. Rose grew up on the family homestead and attended country school. She later moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she worked at McKennan Hospital. Rose later returned to Marmarth where she worked in the local bakery and eventually worked for the local telephone company as an operator. While working in Marmarth, Rose met Frederick Richard ?Pat? Flor, and the two were married on July 28, 1940 in Marmarth. To this union four children were born: Kathy, Linda, Milan and Dan. After their marriage, Rose and Pat moved to Miles City, MT where Pat was employed by the Milwaukee Railroad. They later moved back to Marmarth. While living in town, Pat purchased a farm west of Marmarth, and they moved their house from town to the farm where they raised their family. After Pat passed away in 1975, Rose remained on the farm until 1981 when she moved back to town, where she has made her home until her death. Through out her life, Rose was a devoted Catholic; a faithful member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church and Alter Society. Due to her debilitating disease, Rose became home bound. Over the years, Rose was blessed with many compassionate care givers. Rose enjoyed reading and embroidering, but also enjoyed her family. Rose is survived by her children, Kathy Cook, of Las Vegas, NV, Linda (Paul) Symanski, of Cape Coral, FL, and Dan (Linda) Flor, of Marmarth, ND; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pat, her son, Milan Flor, her parents, George and Mary, her three brothers, Wilfred Carpenter, Walter Carpenter, and Ray Carpenter and her sister, Evelyn Jordan. Arrangements are under the care of Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
