Rose Geck, age 97, of Glen Ullin, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 08, 2007 while a resident of the Marian Manor Healthcare Center in Glen Ullin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Fr. Joseph Arul M. S. F. X, as Celebrant. Visitation will begin after 4:00 PM on Thursday at the church with Rosary and Vigil services at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Glen Ullin. Rose was born May 20, 1910, on the family homestead, northeast of Glen Ullin, the daughter of George and Eva (Fahn) Dietz. She was raised on the farm and educated in rural school. She married Phillip A. Geck on November 23, 1927 at Sacred Heart Church in Glen Ullin. Following their marriage they worked to build up their farm northeast of Glen Ullin, and where they raised their family. Rose enjoyed children and grandchildren, being outdoors, and her garden, especially her flowers. Her sense of humor, her ability to laugh with others, and at herself, was one of her endearing qualities. She was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church and a longtime member of the Christian Mothers. Those remaining to share the legacy of her love include her children and spouses: Theresa and Ed Renner, Glen Ullin; Joan Geck, Billings, MT; Richard and Helen Geck, Pompey?s Pillar, MT; Arlene and Richard Urff, Surprise, AZ; Donald and Mary Ann Geck, Selah, WA; Phyllis Teague, Clovis, NM; Robert and Lois Geck, Glen Ullin; Dennis and Kathy Geck, Yakima, WA; Nadine and Dennis DelaBarre, Bismarck; and Kellan Geck, Chandler, AZ. Rose also has 34 grandchildren and 66 great grand children and 21 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law: Frances Bechhold and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband who died in May of 1988, one son Clem (Bud) Geck, three grandchildren, five brothers: Frank, Tony, John, George, and Pete, one sister Frances Kuntz, four step brothers, five step sisters, and her step mother Rosa (Meuchel) Weiss Dietz.
