Rose Lefor

A Funeral Mass for Rose Lefor, 72, of Lefor, ND will be 10:30 a. m. , Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Lefor, with Father Jason Lefor celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for Rose will from 2:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with a rosary & vigil service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Rose passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck surrounded by her family. Rose Caroline Petryszak was born on October 27, 1943 in Killdeer, ND, the daughter of John and Lena (Gregory) Petryszak. She grew up in Fairfield where her family operated the Country Store. Rose attended country school through the eighth grade before attending high school in Dickinson where she graduated as valedictorian from Campus High School in 1961. Rose went on to attend Dickinson Teachers College. While attending college, she worked for Mann’s Automotive, City of Dickinson and later at the ASCS office. It was during this time that she met Robert Lefor at a wedding dance in New Hradec. The couple was united in marriage on October 12, 1965 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Fairfield, ND. To this union three children were born; Lori, Glenn and Jason. The family lived in Dickinson until 1970 when they moved to the family farm north of Lefor, ND and it was here where they made their home ever since. Rose enjoyed knitting, reading and being outside; especially working in the garden. She loved hosting and feeding her family and any visitors that came to her home. She was known for her homemade bread and made numerous dishes that will be cherished forever by her family. Her grandchildren brought her great joy and she loved taking care of them. Rose’s Border Collie dogs were near and dear to her heart throughout the years. She enjoyed attending sporting events, playing the accordion and dancing; especially polkas. Rose was very instrumental in the restoration project at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Lefor. She will be remembered for the twinkle in her eye and for her quick wit. Rose is survived by her husband, Bob; daughter, Lori Lefor, Stanley, ND; sons, Glenn (Nancy) Lefor, Dickinson, ND and Father Jason Lefor, Lidgerwood, ND; brother, Mike (Shari) Petryszak, Redmond, WA; sister, Mary Ann Steffan, Dickinson, ND; and nine grandchildren, Casey, Colby, Bobbi, Calli, Caiti, Monica, Max, Naomi, Celine. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Margaret Buresh, brothers-in-law Robert Buresh and Vince Steffan. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to St. Elizabeth’s Restoration Fund.
