Rose was born March 9, 1922, one of 10 children in Hirschville, ND, the daughter to Peter and Marianna (Schmidt) Miller. As a young girl, she attended country school.  She moved out west for several years before returning to Dickinson.  Rose met and later married Peter Leiss on October 25, 1948 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  They farmed together for several years before making Dickinson their lifetime home.  Their marriage was blessed with ten children.  Rose was a devoted wife, mother and faith filled woman.  Taking care of her family was her pride and joy. She passed along her strong work ethic and appreciation of what she had to her children.  Rose was a great cook, cooking for various restaurants in Dickinson throughout the years, retiring at St. Anthony Club. She was the best cook and always had a hot meal ready for anyone who stopped by her home.  Rose enjoyed walking, sewing and gardening.  She was blessed to live in her home until the age of 93.  Rose gave back to the community by offering her time at the Food Pantry.  Involvement in her church was very important to her.  She attended daily Rosary and Mass. Rose will be forever loved and dearly missed.  Her family would like to thank the staff at Missouri Slope Lutheran and CHI for the wonderful care Mom received.

Rose is survived by her son, Curt Leiss of Portland, OR; daughters, Nancy (Steve) Wright of Houston, TX, Mary Jane Leiss of Dickinson, Connie (Doug) Lefor of Bismarck, Carol (Randy Weber) Lippert of Mandan, Shirley (Dennis Nagel) Thomas of Bismarck, Kathy (Guy) Mischel of Dickinson, Marilyn (Dean) Burwick of Dickinson, Jeanette Leiss of Bismarck; son-in-law Mike Pletan of Dickinson; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild;; sister, Margaret Braun of CA; sisters-in-law, Margaret Miller of Dickinson, Mary Miller of Minot, Marlys Miller of Fargo; numerous nieces and nephews.
