Funeral Mass for Rose M. Raab, 84 of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a.m. , Monday, January 9, 2012 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, Lefor, ND with Father Patrick Moore, O. S. B. celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery.
Visitation for Rose will be from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a prayer service being held at 2:00 p.m.
Rose passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.
Rose Marie Kubishta was born October 20, 1927 in Dickinson, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Dassinger) Kubishta. She grew up and attended the Shipley Country School southeast of Dickinson through the eighth grade. On November 18, 1946, Rose and Peter Raab were married in Dickinson. To this union eight children were born: Shirley, Harlan, Marvin, Curtis, Gerald, Melvin, Timothy and Richard. Together, they farmed and ranched on the family farm, southeast of Dickinson all of their lives. Rose’s children attended the same country schools as she and Peter did. Rose enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, dancing, and traveling. She especially loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Rose was a charter member of the Leap Year Homemakers Club for over 52 years and stayed very active. Her specialty was her wonderful cooking. In 2007, Rose moved to Hawks Point.
Rose is survived by one daughter, Shirley (Jim) Smith of Grand Forks, ND; five sons, Harlan of Rapid City, SD, Curtis (Linda) of Fargo, Gerald, Melvin, and Timothy (Mary) all of Dickinson; eleven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Kubishta of Mandan and one sister, Esther Davis of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Richard and Marvin; one brother, Alfred Kubishta and one sister Helen Meduna.
