Rose Binstock was born May 29, 1919, the daughter or Louis and Katherine (Bren) Binstock. She was raised on a farm near New Hradec, where she attended country school. Rose was united in marriage to Robert Steffan on October 28, 1936 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND. To this union, six sons, Richard, David, Alvin, Robert, Duane and Dale were born. The family farmed and ranched northwest of Dickinson in Dunn County. Rose lived on the farm until 2012, then made St. Benedict’s her home in Dickinson. She was a proud farmwife who appreciated hard work. Rose enjoyed baking and trying new recipes, listening to old time music, gardening, growing flowers and embroidering dishtowels. She dearly loved spending time with her family and she always called her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by name. Rose was a member of Catholic Workmen and the Rosary Society. She was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec.

Rose is survived by her sons; Richard (Pat), Dickinson, David (Dianne), Manning, Alvin (Anita), Robert Jr. (Mary), Duane (Marilyn), and Dale (Janene), all of Dickinson; 23 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; sisters, Anne Privratsky and Josephine Privratsky of Dickinson, Lillian Splichal of Albany, OR; sisters-in-law, Lillian Hoerner of Dickinson and Elsie Steffan of MN; brother-in-law, George J. Kostelecky of Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
