Committal Service for Ruth Auran, 79, of Dickinson, will be 2:00 p.m. CDT, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
Ruth passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.
Ruth Lavonne Brown was born December 17, 1931 in Maxbass, North Dakota, the daughter of Edson and Vera (Sanders) Brown. Growing up in Maxbass, she graduated from high school in 1948. On September 5, 1949, Ruth was united in marriage to Alden Auran at Maxbass, North Dakota. To this union four daughters, Terry, Patricia, Wanda, and Melodie were born. The couple moved to the Auran farmstead near Westhope, North Dakota. It was there, they made their home for over 55 years, raising their family of four girls. Through the years, Ruth worked in the Westhope Post Office as a Postal Clerk. She was also a waitress for a number of years. In 2005, the couple moved to Dickinson to be closer to family. Ruth had lived at Evergreen and most recently at St. Benedict’s Health Center. Ruth enjoyed reading, gardening and crocheting in her earlier years. She was active in the Maxbass English Lutheran Church, playing the organ there for ten years.
Ruth is survived by her husband Alden; four daughters, Terry (Richard) Martin, Park Rapids MN, Patricia (Dale) Meuchel and Wanda Auran of Dickinson and Melodie (Shawn) Kitzman of Upham; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Wilbur, Charles, Lynn, Elwell, Donald; four sisters, Ethlyn Mayer, Mary Welch, Jessie Davis and Laura Mahlow.
