Ruth Fettig, 82, Killdeer, died Monday, August 14, 2006, at Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a. m. , Friday, August 18, 2006, at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Killdeer, with Rev. Jerry Ruelle, O. S. B. celebrating. Interment will be in Killdeer Cemetery, Killdeer. Visitation will be 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. , Thursday, August 17, 2006, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Visitation will continue at 5 p. m. at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Killdeer with a prayer service at 7:30 p. m. Visitation will continue Friday one hour prior to the service at the church. Ruth Vollmer was born February 20, 1924, in Dunn County, North Dakota to George and Christine (Giese) Vollmer. She was raised on the family farm north of Killdeer. Ruth graduated from Killdeer High School. She married Nick Fettig on October 8, 1946 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Killdeer. Ruth and Nick farmed and ranched north of Killdeer for many years. They moved to Thief River Falls, MN where they continued farming and ranching. They returned to Killdeer in 1979 and purchased a home. Ruth worked at the ASCS office in Killdeer, Bank of Killdeer, Zimbrick Department Store and Gambles. While at Thief River Falls, she worked at the Wetsch Hotel, Hydra Mac, Inc. and Arctic Enterprises. When they returned to Killdeer in 1978, they operated a daycare in their home. Ruth was famous for her wonderful meals and pickles. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, playing bingo and visiting. Ruth was an active member of the American Legion Auxillary and St. Joseph?s Altar Society. Ruth is survived by three sons, Royd (Janette) Killdeer, Ron (Loree) Killdeer, Ralph (Lori), Minot; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Rachelle) Fettig, Detroit Lakes, MN, Nicole (Erik) Shoquist, Roanoke, VA, Sheldon and Heather Fettig, St. Louis, MO, Aleaha Fettig, Fargo, ND, Abby Fettig, Killdeer, Derrick and Jennifer Fettig, Minot, ND; two step grandchildren, Eric and Patrick Lenertz, Minot; three great grandchildren, Marnie Fettig and Payton and Reegan Shoquist; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deloris (Bob) Bird, Helena, Mont. , Eiline (Don) Fritzberg, Boardman, OR, Georgia Zirkle, Burlingame, KS, and Ida Fettig, Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by: her husband on April 2, 1999; parents; and four sisters, Ella Friends, Ann Hovey, Lena Morford and Freida Goth.
