Ruth Grande

Funeral services for Ruth Grande 88, Killdeer will be 10:00 am, MDT, Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel Sauerwein officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Ruth passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Hilltop Home of Comfort, Killdeer, ND. Ruth Lillian Mittelstadt was born August 27, 1921 to Fredrick and Louisa (Goehring) Mittelstadt on the family farm seven miles north of Dunn Center. She grew up and attended school in Dunn Center, graduating from Dunn Center High School in 1940. During this time she worked with her parents on the farm. They later opened a home east of Killdeer to assist those less fortunate. It was during this time that she met Melvin O. Grande and the two were married on November 20, 1944, in Killdeer. The couple made their home on the farm northwest of Killdeer for the next eight years. In 1952 they moved into Killdeer. It was here where she made her home until she entered Hilltop Home of Comfort in 2005. Ruth was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid quilter, being a charter member of the Thread, Needle and Thimble Club. She was also an active volunteer at the Hilltop Home of Comfort, meals on wheels, and was a caregiver to friends in need. Ruth is survived by numerous nieces,nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a brother-in-law, Johnny Grande.
