Ruth Hudson

Funeral Services for Ruth Hudson 72, of Dickinson, ND, will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Evangelical Bible Church, Dickinson.   Pastors Tim Privratsky & Ron Dazell will be officiating. Burial will follow at Dickinson Cemetery.

Visitation for Ruth will be from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2019 at Stevenson Funeral Home.   The Family and Friends’ prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Ruth passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Ruth Elaine Hudson was born October 25, 1947 in Beach, ND, the daughter of Lloyd and Violet (Anthony) Weinreis.  She grew up on the family farm south of Golva and attended both Barthel and Cripps rural one room schools.  Ruth graduated from high school in Golva in 1965 and later attended Beauty School and Business School in Billings, MT.  When Glenn Hudson returned from the Navy, the two were married on February 20, 1971 in Billings, MT.  The couple was blessed with three children, Tori, Traci, and Grant.  They made their home in Billings, MT, Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, and Golva, ND, before settling in Dickinson in 1984.  Ruth and her aunt Dora Bostyan were owner/operators of D&R Diner while in Golva. For most of her life she cooked for people and served many at weddings, family gatherings, Brandings, etc.  She also loved her church family at Evangelical Bible Church and Hope Christian Academy where she worked in countless jobs giving of her time and talents.  In her younger years she served as the School Secretary and later as the Head Cook.  Ruth enjoyed spending time with family, reading, camping, cooking, playing cards and games.  She also enjoyed mowing, bowling and travel.  She was a notorious visitor, and always found time to talk and stayed as late as necessary to finish the story.  She was lovingly referred to as “Grandma Ruth” by all of the students she cared for and fed each week at Hope.  Grandma Ruth will be greatly missed by the countless lives she touched before God called her home.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 48 years, Glenn; Children, daughters, Tori (Tom) Irwin of Dickinson, Traci (Alex) Roller of Dickinson; Grant Hudson of Dickinson; grandchildren, TJ, Tod, Seth, Audrey, Jasmine, Trent, Reese, Tyler; brothers, Chuck (Nina) Weinreis of Minatare, NE, Gene (JoAnne )Weinreis of Golva, Jim (Becky) Weinreis of Sentinel Butte, George ( Pam) Weinreis of Sentinel Butte, Danny (Callie) Weinreis of Minatare, NE, Jerry (Mary) Weinreis of Golva, Lee (Charlene) Weinreis of Golva; sisters, Joyce (Larry) Bosserman of Glendive, MT, Cheryl (Ed) Hammond of Golva, Sheila (Dan) Zachmann of Golva; brother-in-law, Mel Bosserman of Golva; 45 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Edith Bosserman; granddaughter, Trista Irwin; nephews, Levi Hammond and Cody Janikowski.

In Lieu of flowers, Ruth’s family suggests memorials be sent to Hope Christian Academy, 2891 5th Ave west, Dickinson, ND.
