Rite of Christian burial for Ruth Massad, 75, of Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, ND will be 11 a. m. , Monday, April 28, 2008 at St. John?s Episcopal Church with Rev. Cherian Mathew and Rev. Marie Mathew officiating. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be 9 a. m . – 5 p. m. , Saturday, April 26, 2008 and continue from 3-9 p. m. , Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson with a prayer service at 4 p. m. Sunday. Ruth passed away Thursday April, 24, 2008 at Med Center One surrounded by her family. Ruth was born October 9, 1932 the daughter of George and Lizzie(Hatzenbuhler) Koffler in Lefor, ND. On October 25, 1953 Ruth and Mason Massad were united in marriage. Together, they established and operated the Nodak Motel in Dickinson. They had a large number of regular salesmen that became close friends over the years. They also owned the Uptown Motel in Dickinson. After selling the Nodak Motel, they went into the business of rental properties. Ruth worked diligently and took great pride in the up keep of their properties and once again their tenants became some of their closest friends. Ruth and Mason retired in 2001. In the fall of 2007, they moved to Bismarck, ND to be closer to their family. Ruth loved to cook and had a way of magically putting together a delicious meal for unexpected, but always welcomed company. She also enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. Ruth was known for her kindness and her home was always open to friends and family. She was active in her church, which was very important to her. Ruth?s greatest joy was her family who will greatly miss her. Ruth is survived by: her husband, Mason Massad, Bismarck, ND; three daughters;, Diane Cornell, Bismarck, ND, Susan (Jim) Goodale, Bismarck, ND, Patty (Dave) Chittim, Casper, WY; 4 grandchildren, Nicole (Art) Goodale Thompson, Bismarck, ND, Erin (fianc?e- Steven Price) Goodale, Bismarck, ND, Blake Chittim, and Rachel Chittim, both of Casper, WY; one great grandchild, Alexis Nicole Thompson, Bismarck, ND; brothers, Joe (Margaret) Koffler, Pete (Irene) Koffler, George Koffler; sisters; Jennie Decker, Katie Rech and Lena Sticka. She is preceded in death by: her parents, brothers, Christ and John Koffler, sisters, Margaret and Betty. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St Paul’s Independant Episcopal Church, Dickinson or Med Center One School of Nursing, Bismarck.
