Funeral Service for Ruth A. Nichols, 88, of Baker, MT will be 10:00 a. m. on Monday, October 17, 2011 at American Lutheran Church in Baker, MT with Pastors? Bruce & Reba Kolasch officiating. Interment will follow in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. on Sunday, October 16th, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Ruth passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2011, at Quality Personal Care in Baker, MT. Ruth Adeline (Myhre) Nichols was born on July 11, 1923, the daughter of Odin and Oline (Bresseth) Myhre. She grew up on the family farm south of Baker and attended the Myhre School in the 101 area, and attended Baker High School. She married James Harvey Nichols on December 30, 1940. Ruth was a devoted wife. She worked the fields right along with Harvey. Sewing was a necessity and she excelled at quilting. Her yard, garden and flowers were a great source of pride and enjoyment. She was known for being an excellent cook and on a moment?s notice, Ruth could cook a delicious and filling meal for any guest at the Nichols home. Ruth enjoyed serving her family members their favorite foods. She always had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. Survivors include daughters, Lennice K. Nichols, Gearhart, OR, Marjorie A. (Bill) Rowley, Helena, MT; daughter-in-law, Nikki (Clayton) Verke, Baker, MT; two sisters, Irene Hansen, Madison, SD and Laurel (Ron) Heaton, WA; a brother, Duane (Kathy) Myhre, WA; sister-in-law, Joyce Swanson, WA; six grandchildren, Susan Miller, OR, Greg Traweek, OR, Jeff (Angela) Nichols, WA, Scott (Kim) Nichols, MT, Chris (Jenny) Rowley, MT and Alicia Rowley, MT; four great-grandchildren, Kacey, Kaytie, Taylor and James. Ruth considered Wade and Nolan Verke and their families as part of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Iva, her husband, Harvey, two sons, Jim and John, two sisters, Alice, Myrtle, and four brothers, Curtis, Mourice, Rodger and Everett. Memorials may be made to American Lutheran Church.
