A funeral service for Ruth Singer, 89, of Dickinson, will be held at 2:00 p. m. , Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Stevenson Funeral Home with Pastor Janel Kolar officiating. Burial will take place in the Beulah Cemetery. Visitation for Ruth will be one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Ruth passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson. Ruth Kusler Singer was born May 25, 1926 in Beulah, ND, the daughter of Emanuel and Ida (Fischer) Kusler. She grew up and attended a rural elementary school, later graduating from Beulah Public High School in 1944. Ruth went on to earn a business certificate from Fargo Business College and a master’s degree in elementary education from Dickinson State University. On September 18, 1947, Ruth married Erwin C. Singer in Beulah. They were blessed with a son, Mark and three grandchildren, Selina, Nicole and Nicolas. They made their home in Beulah and operated their farm nearby. In 1963, they moved to Dickinson where Ruth was a 4th grade elementary teacher for 23 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of United Church of Christ. Ruth enjoyed cooking and entertaining, playing cards, traveling, dancing, reading, sewing and making cathedral window wall hangings. Ruth’s favorite time of the year was Christmas, when she could shower her family with gifts. Ruth is survived by her son, Mark S. Singer, wife Yulia and their son Nicolas Singer of Bellevue, WA; grandchildren, Selina Singer of Tacoma, WA, Nicole Singer of Mt. Lake Terrace, WA; extended family, Esther Fleischer, Beulah, ND and Carla Weigel Eden Prairie, MN; Henry and Mabel Singer, MN; Cheri Thom, Moorhead, MN; Tonya Singer, Chicago, IL; Glen and Linnette Singer of Indio, CA; Maynard and Sandy Blohm, Beulah, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Ida Kusler; husband, Erwin Singer; and sister, Wilma “Willy” and Dave Davis, Lester and Hildegard Blohm, and Todd Singer.
