Ruth passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at her home in Plevna.
Ruth Thielen was born on February 28, 1938 to Arlin and Lillian Anderson in Jamestown, ND. Her younger years were spent in this area until she and her family moved to Plevna, MT. Ruth met the love of her life, Pete Thielen, at the Green Acres roller skating rink east of Plevna. The two married on August 4, 1956 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Plevna. She remained a member of St. Anthony’s until her death. Ruth and Pete’s family grew as Diana, Steven, Gary, William and Mark were born. They happily raised their family on the Thielen family farm and then in 1963 they purchased a farm north of Plevna. They moved to town in 1998, she and daughter, Diana, bought and ran the Plevna bar and café for seven years. Ruth was blessed to continue living in their home until her passing.
Ruth was a friendly welcoming woman who offered any visitor food at her table. She was lover of animals of all kinds’ dogs, cats, bird watching and especially feeding the bum lambs and pigs. Ruth took joy in her flowers, embroidery and quilting. Each one of her children has a quilt she made them. Time spent with family made her the happiest she was sure whether hungry or not they got to benefit from her baking and cooking. In her small community the Plevna Senior Center was the place to be and as a member enjoyed hours with friends over the years.
Ruth is loved greatly and will be missed by her daughter, Diana Thielen; sons, Steven (Vicki), Gary, William “Bill”, Mark; grandchildren, Krista (Dusty) Oelke, Lacey (Scott) Satnan, Travis, Brent (Johanna) Thielen, Donovan Breen, Rick Breen, Tony Breen; greatgrandchildren, Westley, Sophia, Beckham, Grady, Bridger, Rylin, Bodee; sister-in-law, Nana Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews.
