Funeral Services for Sam Richard Fisher, 80, of Baker, MT will be 10:00 a. m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, MT with Pastor Bruce Inion officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker, MT. Visitation will be 9:00 a. m. to 7:00 p. m. Friday, June 20th at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Sam passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008, at Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home in Baker. Sam Richard Fisher was born on July 7, 1927, the son of Dewey Allan and Josephine Theolina (Strand) Fisher at the Fisher family farm south of Golva, ND. Sam grew up on the family farm, and attended the Bull Run country school south of Golva, and high school in Ollie, MT. After Sam graduated from high school, he went to Washington State where he worked as a logger in the forests. Eventually Sam returned to the family farm where he worked with his parents until he purchased his own farm north of Ollie, MT. While at Ollie, Sam met a young school teacher, Marguerite Jeannine Hudson. After a courtship, the two were married on May 27, 1948 at the Ollie Evangelical United Brethren Church. To this union Sandra, Judy, Beverly, Rosanne and Rick were born. Sam and Marguerite made their home at Ollie until 1970, when they moved into Baker. Sam remained actively involved with the operation of the farm along with his son, Rick. Sam served on the Ollie School Board and was a member of the Ollie Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Sam enjoyed a lifetime of farming. He also took pride and pleasure in his family. During busy times, he looked forward to a break when dinner and lunch were brought to the field and he enjoyed time shared with his family. Sam loved the land and being a farmer. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marguerite, Baker, MT; his children, Sandra (Curt) Ehman, San Antonio, TX, Judy (Greg) Gunderson, Baker, MT, Beverly (Delane) Rath, Baker, MT, Rosanne (Roy) Rieger, Miles City, MT and Rick (Rosella) Fisher, Glendive, MT. He was ?Papa? to 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Hanks, Wenatchee, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Josephine, his brothers, John ?Sonny? Fisher, Thomas Fisher, Fred Fisher, Robert ?Butch? Fisher and two brothers-in-law, Chet Hanks and Vern ?Bony? Veroye. Arrangements are under the care of the Stevenson Funeral Home of Baker, MT.
