Funeral Service for Sandi Kirkwood, 61, of Ekalaka, MT will be at 11:00 a. m. on Friday, July 27, 2012, in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka with Pastor Steve DeFord officiating. Interment will follow in Beaver Lodge Cemetery at Ekalaka. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Sandi Kirkwood beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend passed away on July 24th 2012 with her two sons and brother by her side, after an exhausting battle with liver disease. Sandi was born August 22, 1950 in Ekalaka to Johnny and Dorothy Johnstone. She was the youngest of four children and only daughter born to Johnny and Dorothy. In 1968 she attended Junes Beauty School in Miles City, MT. After beauty school she returned to Ekalaka and married the love of her life Ray Kirkwood on May 3, 1969. To this marriage there were two boys, Dave and Doug. Sandi spent most of her working career cooking and serving others. However for the last 11 years, she was employed as a cook at Dahl Memorial Healthcare, which she ultimately viewed as cooking for her extended family. Sandi enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a great appreciation for her two daughter-in-laws, commenting frequently how grateful she was for them being a part of her life and making her son?s happy. Sandi also enjoyed, crocheting, cooking for family events and parties, and most of all spending time with her husband Ray. Sandi was preceded in death by, her husband Ray Kirkwood, father Johnny Johnstone, mother and father-in-law Nona and Bill Kirkwood, two sister-in-laws Florence Walker and Beth Dean. Sandi is survived by, her mother Dorothy Johnstone, her two sons and their wives Dave and Heidi, Doug and Jodi, five grandchildren Alexis, Quinton, Gage, Trace, and Hunter, three brothers and their wives Don and Ginger, Ken and Neillie, and Dave and Alice Johnstone, brother-in-law Larry Dean and sister-in-law Marcella Meldrum and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandi will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She touched many people?s lives in a very special way, improving their lives just for knowing her. Sandi was kind, considerate, and took incredible pride in pleasing others. Sandi will be remembered for many things including but not limited to, her caring nature, non-judgmental attitude, and her unselfish heart.
