Sandra Helvik

A Celebration of Life Service for Sandra M. Helvik, 63, of Wibaux, MT will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Wibaux County Exhibit Hall, Wibaux, with Pastor Rick Varnum officiating.  In accordance with Sandy’s wishes, cremation has taken place.


Sandra passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Glendive Medical Center in Glendive, MT.


Sandra Chaffee was born February 11, 1955 in Beach, ND, to Donald and Florence (Zinda) Chaffee. She grew up on the family farm north of Wibaux.  Sandy attended Hay Creek Country School and later Wibaux County High School, graduating in 1973. On June 16, 1973, she was united in marriage to Kim Helvik. The couple made their home in Wibaux, where they raised their three children. Sandy spent most of her career working at the Wibaux County Nursing Home. She was the business manager until her retirement in 2013. In later years, Sandy’s struggle with Parkinson’s became more of a challenge. Sandy enjoyed sewing and mending. Flowers were her passion. She also loved family gatherings, especially during the holidays. Sandy enjoyed following her children’s sporting events and school activities. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.


Sandra was survived by her husband, Kim; son, Craig (Nina) Helvik of Wibaux; daughters, Lynnelle (Doug) Nistler of Glasgow, MT, and Michelle Helvik of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Cade, Ross, Alexus, Nikalus, and Nevayah; and sister, Kitty Knapkewicz of Wibaux, MT.


Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Florence Chaffee; and her brother, Donald Jr.
