Funeral Mass for Sarah Hlebichuk, 95, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Belfield, ND, will be at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church in Belfield, ND, with Father Casimir Paluck and Father Shannon Lucht concelebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Bernard?s Cemetery in Belfield. Visitation will be Friday, April 9, 2010, from 2:00 to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Rosary and Vigil Service held at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 10, 2010, from 9:00 to 11:00 a. m. at St. Bernard?s Catholic Church in Belfield. Sarah passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, in Albuquerque, NM. Sarah was born on January 17, 1915, and grew up on a farm seven miles north of Belfield. Her parents were Stephen and Helen (Kolodychuk) Paluck. She attended country school and helped on the farm. On October 23, 1933, Sarah and Joe F. Hlebichuk were married in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church north of Belfield. Following their marriage, they lived and worked on a farm north of Belfield. In 1944, they moved to Belfield, ND. Sarah enjoyed making quilts and rugs, painting Ukrainian Easter Eggs (pysanky), and sewing. She had a special gift of playing the organ and piano music by ear. Sarah enjoyed card playing, reading, and her special TV shows. She loved to bake and took pride sharing food with invited and drop-in guests. Even though she helped Joe in some of his work, she believed that she had a special role in life and that was to take care of the family. She was a tremendous caretaker for Joe in his later years when he had health challenges. In 2001, Sarah moved to Albuquerque, NM, where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Gerald and family. For the last few years, she has been residing in the Albuquerque Rehabilitation Center. Sarah is survived by her son, Joseph (Sandra) Hlebichuk, Albany, OR; daughter, Joanne (Gerald) Gray, Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Sister Laura Kropilnicki; sister-in-law, Betty Kropilnicki; along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; brothers, Henry Paluck, Frank Kropilnicki, and Victor Kropilnicki; and sisters, Mary (Elias) Duletsky, Ida (Ben) Michels, and Amelia (Frank) Makowski.
