Sharon passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Fallon Medical, Baker, MT.
Sharon Schwartz was born January 18, 1954 in Roundup, MT, to Houston and Nellie (Adams) Lakey. The family eventually settled in Terry, MT where Sharon’s parents operated the Texaco Station. Sharon attended school there, graduating from Terry High School in 1972. She later attended college at Montana State University. It was during this time that she met Keith Schwartz and the two were married on August 19, 1974 in Terry. After a few years in Billings, MT and then Fallon, MT, Sharon and Keith settled in Baker, MT. It was here where they made their home and raised their family ever since. The couple was blessed with four children, Mike, Paul, Josh and Anna. Sharon worked at several places in Baker before she found her passion, working with and helping the youth. She felt blessed to serve as the county extension assistant working specifically as the director of 4-H for both Fallon and Carter County. She retired in 2016 after twenty plus years of service.
Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her family. She never missed an opportunity to support them in their accomplishments or activities from school to sports she was always there for her children and grandchildren. Sharon enjoyed time spent in her flower garden or going for evening walks with Keith. Antiquing was a favorite hobby of Sharon’s and she went on many trips to search for more “treasures.” Sharon will be missed by the many lives she touched, through her family, 4-H, commitment to the community and her church.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of 45 years, Keith; children, Mike (Becky) Schwartz; Paul (Bridget) Schwartz; Josh (Carrie) Schwartz; Anna (Michael) Schultz, all of Baker; ten grandchildren, Kobee, Aidyn, Cru, Devyn, Kylie, Aubryn, Bryant, Alivia, Riley, and Lucas; siblings, John (Kathy) Lakey, 29 Palms, CA; Naomi (Pat) Leonard, Eagle River, AK; Jim (Patty) Lakey, Tioga, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by both of her parents, Houston and Nellie; sister, Sheila Lakey Coulston; nephews, Michael, John and Patrick Leonard.
In lieu of flowers, Sharon’s family suggests memorials to the Fallon and Carter County 4-H programs.
