Shirley Ficek

A Funeral Mass for Shirley Ficek, 55, of Dickinson, will be 11:00 a. m. , Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec, ND with Father Bill Ruelle celebrating. Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation for Shirley will be 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Shirley passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck with her family by her side. Shirley was born April 24, 1958 in Dickinson, the daughter of Ludwig and Emma (Privratsky) Ficek. She grew up on the family farm north of Dickinson where she attended grade school and graduated from Dickinson High School. She had a love for life and enjoyed riding her bicycle, dancing, bowling, flowers, balloons and puppies. Shirley liked dining out, especially at Applebee’s and she loved dressing up with her hair done, nails polished and feeling like a princess. She participated in Special Olympics and loved going to Camp Recreation. After Shirley’s parents passed away, she made her home with ABLE where she made many friends. Shirley always had a hug for family and friends and she cherished their visits. Holidays and birthdays were fond times for her as she looked forward to the gatherings that would take place. She will be remembered for her precious smile and the twinkle in her eye. Shirley will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Shirley is survived by her brothers, Gordon (Roberta) Ficek of Dickinson, Don (Bonnie) Ficek of Ankeny, IA, Dennis Ficek of Dickinson, Gary (special friend, Vicki) Ficek of Fargo and Dale (Margie) Ficek of Dickinson; nieces, Lynn (Terry) Kubas, Dawn Rae (Allen) Bauman, Kari (Scott) Uhl, Tara (Christopher) LaRowe, Christy (Christopher) Chase, Alison Ficek; nephews, Steve Ficek, Doug (Charis) Ficek and Aric Ficek; numerous great nieces and nephews; and friends and staff at ABLE Inc.
