A funeral service for Shirley Kubas, 70, of Dickinson will be 1:00 pm Friday, November 10, 2023 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Inurnment will follow at the Stevenson Legacy Garden.
Visitation for Shirley will be one hour before the service.
Shirley passed away on November 2, 2023 at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Dickinson.
Shirley Ann Freidt was born on November 1, 1953 to Leonard and Inez (Bergenheier) Freidt in Richardton, North Dakota. She grew up on the family farm north of Mott. Shirley attended country school for four years, then Mott High School, where she graduated in 1971. After graduation, she attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and received her LPN. She began her nursing career working in Bismarck, and later at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson.
Shirley met and married Marvin Kubas. The couple was blessed with two sons, Brian and Bradley. While working at St. Joseph’s Hospital, she also worked as an EMT. In recent years, Shirley worked at Hawks Point and St. Luke’s Nursing Home.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed attending rodeos and going to the lake. More recently, she liked to watch old western movies, gardening, cross-stitching, and reading when she had time. She especially loved taking care of her grandchildren and her cats.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Brian (Tanya) Kubas of Crosby, MN and Bradley Kubas of Dickinson; grandchildren, Draven, Savannah, Aubrey, Keyana, and Christopher; siblings, Kathy (Ray) Fries of Mandan, Sandy (John) Bubbers of Morristown, SD, Larry (Brenda) Friedt of New Leipzig, Terry (Diane) Friedt of Mott, Garry (Shelley) Friedt of Cavalier, and Cindy (Scott) Bice of Killdeer; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Inez.
