Funeral Services for Shirley Verleen Opp, 78, of Baker, MT will be 2:00 p. m. Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Baker with Pastor Levi Durfey officiating. Burial will follow at Bonnievale Cemetery in Baker. Visitation will be from 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Friday, January 5, 2007 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a Prayer Service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Shirley passed away Monday, January 1, 2007 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Shirley Verleen Opp was born August 8, 1928 to Theodore and Johanna (Schweigert) Kusler in Artas, SD. At an early age, she moved with her family form Artas to the Hepperle farm south of Plevna, MT. Shirley grew up helping on the farm and attending School in Plevna, graduating from Plevna High School in 1947. On September 28, 1947, Shirley married Richard Dan Opp at the First Baptist Church in Plevna. To this union where blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Sheila. The couple lived on a farm near Lame Jones for a few years before making their home on the Willard farm. This was the place that Shirley and Richard called home and raised their family for more than 45 years. In 1989, they retired to Baker where they spent the rest of their years together. Shirley loved the Lord her Savior very much and served Him as a member of the First Baptist Church for many years. She dearly enjoyed her time with family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren and embroidered something for each one. Shirley was very proud of her home, and it was never found untidy. She also enjoyed cooking and was well known for her rhubarb deserts and countless German specialties. She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Dean) Buscher of Phoenix, AZ; Sheila McElrone of Baker; seven grandchildren, Jason (Gabriela) Buscher; Cambria (Ramon) Rios; Jolene Buscher; Andrea (Chris) Kredit, all of the Phoenix, AZ area; Justin (Donna) Nacey; Brandon (Joy) Cartisser; Jenna McElrone; two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Kevin Cartisser, all of the Baker, MT area; three sisters, Virginia (Bob) Malley of Emmet, ID; June (Ruben) Opp of Miles City, MT; Gloria (Glenn) Follmer of Billings, MT;She is preceded I death by both of her parents, her husband, Richard; and one Granddaughter.
