Funeral services for Shirley Ann Schwindt, 60, Greeley, Colo. , formerly of Killdeer, will be 11 a. m. Saturday, March 8, 2003, at St. John?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Killdeer, with the Rev. Aanen Gjovik, officiating. Interment will be in Whetstone Cemetery, rural Killdeer. Shirley Ann Nupen was born May 11, 1942, in Killdeer to Arthur and Olga (Sloan) Nupen. She attended school in Killdeer and graduated from Killdeer High School. Shirley married Val Schwindt on September 26, 1960, in Killdeer. They later divorced. Shirley was living in Greeley, Colo. for the last 35 years. Although she struggled with many difficulties in her life, she remained a true mother with her only focus being her children. Shirley was a member of the Catholic faith and a proud member of alcoholics anonymous with 35 years of sobriety. She enjoyed dancing, horseback riding, country music, reading arts and crafts and her grandchildren. She is survived by: her mother, Olga Marie Nupen, Killdeer; three sons, Dennis (Mary) Schwindt, Hamburg, Minn. , Kevin (Patti) Schwindt, Evans, Colo. and Douglas (Deborah) Schwindt, Greeley, Colo. ; seven grandchildren; one sister, Ardella Bechtle, Bismarck and two brothers, Arnold Nupen, Killdeer and Roger Nupen Longmont, Colo. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Nupen.
