Funeral Service for Shirley Winczewski, 84, Dickinson, ND, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson, with Pastor Scott Skones officiating. Visitation for Shirley will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2020 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. For those attending please adhere to social distancing guidelines. Shirley passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at St. Luke’s Home.
Shirley was born in Cadillac, SD, on June 14, 1935, the daughter of Oliver and Florence (Tilley) Siedschlaw. As a young girl, she grew up in the McLaughlin, SD, area, graduating from Bowman High School in 1953. Shirley worked in the Bowman area as a nurse’s aide in St. Luke’s Tri-State Hospital. She also worked for Dr. Thom and Dr. Ahlness at the Bowman Clinic. It was during this time that she met William “Bill” Winczewski, her future husband. Shirley and William were married on March 23, 1962, and their marriage was blessed with three children. They moved their family to Dickinson in 1970. Shirley went to work for Dr. Ordahl and later retired in the early 1980’s. Shirley and William loved their lake place on Mosset Bay where they spent summers for over 30 years. She loved fishing and hunting. Together they enjoyed many cruises and time spent together at Dakota Diner and McDonald’s. Shirley was a passionate shopper and brought home many treasures, always proud of the deals she was able to find. Shirley took great pride in the flower gardens that surrounded her home.
Shirley is survived by her husband, William Winczewski; sons, Brad of Schaumburg, IL, Todd (Leslie Larkins) of Granby, CO; daughter, Kari (Kelly) McNary of Wahpeton, ND; four grandchildren, Lauren Winczewski, Allen Winczewski, Kaitlin McNary, Kameron McNary; sisters, Roberta Engesser of Spearfish, SD, Donna (John Heming) of Fruitdale, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Florence Siedschlaw; brothers, Alan and Otto (Bernie) Siedschlaw; sister, Betty (Max) Christensen; brother-in-law, Tiny Engesser.
