Sigrid Gierke

Funeral services for Sigrid Gierke, 73, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Burial will follow at Garden Cemetery in Watford City. Visitation will be on Friday, December 26, 2008 from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Sigrid passed away Friday, December 19, 2008 at St. Luke?s Home in Dickinson. Sigrid was born May 19, 1935 in Watford City, ND to Godfred and Grace (Hazel) Olson. She grew up North of Watford City and attended the Signal one room school house. After school she worked at various caf??s in the area. In 1955 she married Richard A. Gierke in Sidney, MT. The couple made their home in Hettinger, ND. During this time Sigrid helped in the Sales yards. Sigrid became an avid bowler and enjoyed it. She liked to knit, crochet, enjoyed playing cards, decorating, loved baking, fishing and gardening. She took pride in her flowers. Sigrid loved music, she played the guitar, accordion and enjoyed singing. Sigrid later met Joe Streitz and the two have been inseparable ever since. The couple made their home in Dickinson for the last 30 years. Grateful for having shared her life are her son; Michael A. Gierke, Mandan, daughter; Debbie A. Olson-Clark, Sandy, OR; brothers: Carl Olson, Donald Olson, Edwin Olson, all of Watford City and Richard Olson, Williston; sisters: Anna Thompson, Watford City and Shirley Lindeman, Thief River Falls, MN; five grandchildren, Shawn Tomovick, Estacada, OR, Billie Joe Pippenger, Williston, Brandy Halland, Minot, Mike Gierke Jr. , Grand Junction, CO and Ashley Gierke, Mandan; four great-grandchildren and special friend Joe Streitz, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Alvin Olson.
