Funeral Services for Simon Sieler, 87 of Baker will be 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at the Assembly of God Church in Baker with Pastor Danny Winter officiating. Burial with Military Rites by the Baker American Legion Post #35 will be in the Community Union Cemetery in Plevna, MT.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 18, 2005 from 9:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. in the Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel in Baker. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church.
Simon passed away Friday, July 15, 2005 at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.
Simon was born November 4, 1917, at Plevna, MT, to Edward and Rosina (Huber) Sieler. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Plevna and attended school at the Sieler-Steffes rural school. In 1942, during World War II, Simon entered the Army where he served in the Military Police. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Simon farmed at various places in Fallon and Carter counties before purchasing land in Carter County with his brothers, Edward and David in 1949. On August 31, 1957, he was married to Hilda Ehret at Plevna. Two sons, Steve and Mark were born to this union. Besides farming, Simon also did carpenter work and built their home in Baker where they have lived since 1957. In 1958 they purchased land between Baker and Plevna where Simon continued to farm and do carpenter work during the winters. Due to failing health, Simon has been retired for the last several years. He was a member of the Baker Assembly of God church where he served as deacon for 12 years. A priority in his life has been to please the Lord. He enjoyed Bible studies and besides farming with his sons, he also enjoyed fishing, different kinds of crafts, and reading. His family has been the most important part of his life.
Survivors include, his wife, Hilda; two sons, Mark (Jutta) Sieler and Steve (Sue) Sieler both of Baker; two brothers, Benjamin (Amalie) Sieler, and David (Leah) Sieler both of Billings, MT; a sister Ruth Sieler, Plevna; and four grandchildren, Kyla, Kendall, Shawn and Shay. Eight brothers: Walter, Edwin, Arthur, Leo, Emil, Edward, Tony and Hable; and four sisters: Hulda Huether and three infant sisters preceded him in death.
