A Funeral Service for Sonia will be held at 1:00 p.m., at the Smith West Chapel in Billings with burial to follow at the Terrace Gardens Cemetery in Billings. A reception will be held after the graveside service at the Smith West Chapel in Billings.
Sonia passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Sonia Fae Schell was born on May 2nd, 1940, to Harriet and Gayle Webster. She attended school in Baker, MT. She met Herb, the love of her life at a dance. They married on October 11th, 1958. They began their life together working on the family farm which they later purchased. To this union 3 children were born, Brenda, Russell and Doug. She lovingly accepted her role as a wife and mother which was always her dream.
She and Herb were members of the First Congregational Church in Plevna. They dedicated their lives to the Lord and lived their lives accordingly. She taught her children the importance of hard work and love for family and friends.
One of her hobbies was sewing. She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for those she loved for high school graduations. She and Herb enjoyed attending many sporting events. She also enjoyed her board games and playing cards with friends. Scrabble was a part of every holiday gathering.
She was an amazing cook and showed her love through cooking. She will always be remembered for her baked rice.
In 2012 she and Herb sold the family farm and moved to Baker where they resided for 5 years before moving to Billings to be closer to family. They searched for and found a church to call home. They were welcomed and loved at the Yellowstone Lutheran Brethren Church.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, Harriet Plummer, her sister, Grace Watkins, her son, Russell, her grandson, Derek and her great grandson, Peter Fisher.
She is survived by her husband, Herb, her children, Brenda and Doug Schell, her grandchildren, Misti Schell, Lindsey (James) Catlin, Ashley (Dane) Fisher and Hunter (Jada) Schell, her great grandchildren, Olivia Moten-Schell, Ivy Schell Taylor, Violet Schell Taylor, Stella- Marie Fisher, Letty Catlin and Jacy Schell along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the most selfless woman. She always wanted to care for others and took joy in doing so.She will be missed by anyone whose lives she touched. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to share a hug with those around her.
