Stanley J. Holzemer, 80, Dickinson, died Monday, December 26, 2005 at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p. m. , Friday, December 30, 2005 at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Jerry Kautzman celebrating. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Amidon. Visitation will be 10 a. m. to 9 p. m. , Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. There will be a rosary being said by Knights of Columbus Council #6308 at 7 p. m. , followed by a prayer service led by Deacon Ralph Stockert. Stanley J. Holzemer was born July 18, 1925, on a farm in near Amidon, ND, to J. P. and Susan (Ficker) Holzemer. Stanley attended St. Mary?s School in New England for the first grade and then attended White Lake School, east of Amidon. Stanley attended St. Mary?s High School, New England and graduated ahead of his class in 1943. He worked on the family farm until November, 1945, when he entered the United States Navy. Stanley was discharged in October, 1947, and returned to take over the family farm. Stanley married Betty Alexander on June 12, 1952, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Amidon. He farmed until the fall of 1964, then moved to Dickinson and worked for Farmers Union Oil Company until 1976. Stanley traveled for Cenex until April, 1983, when he retired. He was a crop insurance adjuster for 18 years and has been associated with Davis Financial Services since 1991. Stanley enjoyed crossword puzzles, computers and was an amateur photographer. His favorite subjects were old barns, other old structures, farm equipment, and old cars. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree, ARC. , serving seven years on local and state boards, loan committee and board of director of what is now W. C. C. U. , Queen City Toastmasters, Slope County Fair Board, Badlander Barbershop Chorus, Catholic War Veterans Post 956 of New Hradec, St. Pius Verein, Eagles Club and St. Anthony Club. He was also involved in the Dakota West Car Club, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, ARC, and Special Olympics. He was also a member of St. Joseph?s Catholic Church since 1965, where he was an active member, sang in the church choir, and served on numerous church boards. Stan would occasionally ride along with local police and he enjoyed watching the sport of baseball. Stanley is survived by: his wife, Betty, Dickinson; one son, Gordon, Dickinson; one daughter, Patricia (Don) Houck, Glendive, MT; two grandchildren, Michael and Rachael Houck; two sisters, Lucille Heilman, Los Angeles, CA and Sylvia (Bob) Koppinger, New England, ND; three sisters-in-law, Mercein Holzemer, Richfield, MN, Marion Holzemer, Eagan, MN, and Bernice Holzemer, Rosemount, MN. He was preceded in death by: his parents, seven brothers, Conrad, Ray, Anton ?Butch?, Leo ?Bud?, Ernie, Harold ?Red? and George Holzemer; two brothers-in-law, Bob Koppinger and Casper Heilman; five sisters-in-law, Polly Anna Holzemer, Leona Holzemer, ?Babe? Holzemer, Margaret Holzemer and Eleanore Holzemer.
