Mass of Christian Burial for Stella M. Heick, 88, of Baker, MT will be at 11:00 a. m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Bowman, ND with the Rev. Father Thomas Tobin as celebrant and Deacon Lenny Fischer. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery at Bowman. Visitation will be 3:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Tuesday, June 2nd, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 p. m. Stella passed away on Friday, May 29, 2009 at her home in Baker, MT. Stella M. Heick was born on June 7, 1920, at Hailey, ND a daughter of Vincent and Agatha (Bieniek) Kromarek. Stella grew up and attended country school in the Hailey Community in southwestern Bowman County. Stella met and later married John M. Heick on September 23, 1938 in Scranton, ND. Following their marriage, Stella and John lived in the Scranton and Bowman areas for 20 years before moving to Lead, SD where John took a job at the Homestake Mine. They moved to Dillon, MT, and in 1970, they moved to Ekalaka. While in Ekalaka, Stella worked at Dahl Memorial Healthcare in housekeeping and as a nurse?s aid. After 18 years of dedicated service, Stella retired and moved to Baker where she made her home until her death. Stella enjoyed being with her family and caring for their needs. She enjoyed word search books as well as keeping up with her family. Stella is survived by her daughter, Eileen Marie Mittelstedter of Baker, MT; four sons, Donald Heick of Glendive, MT, Jerry Heick of Baker, MT, Carrol (Charlene) Heick of San Pedro, CA and Nickolas (Becky) Heick of Lake Havasu City, AZ; three brothers, Louie Kromarek of Scranton, ND, Stanley (Anna Marie) Kromarek of Belt, MT and Roy (Lois) Kromarek of Scranton, ND; two sisters, Katherine Maliscke of Bowman, ND and Sophie Bieniek of Bolus, MN; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her parents, Vincent and Agatha, her husband, John and her brothers, John, Pete, Frank Kromarek and 2 infant brothers, and her daughter-in-law, Rose preceded her in death.
