Steve passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.

Steve was born September 2, 1932 in Dickinson, the son of Jacob and Frances (Kostelecky) Tomasek. Growing up he attended St. Joseph’s Grade School and Dickinson High School. Steve proudly served our country as a cook in the Army during the Korean War. A special moment of remembrance for Steve was while in Korea, he was hospitalized and visited by Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, who shook his hand and thanked him for serving our country. He was honorably discharged for his service from 1952-1954. Upon his return, Steve worked alongside his brother Joe for Kolling and Kolling Construction for many years. He led a simple life and was always happy for whatever he had. Steve loved to garden and fish. His frequent daily summer walks around the south side of Dickinson kept all those in the area up to date on the most recent happenings in Dickinson…dubbing him the “South Side Mayor.” Steve was kind to everyone and he had an infectious smile that will be missed by those who knew him.

Stephen is survived by his sister, MaryAnn Goselin of Trenton; nephew Mervyn Goselin of Trenton; and special friend, Erv Kessel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Frances Tomasek; brother, Joseph Tomasek; brother-in-law, Stan Goselin; and step-sisters, Lillian Faler, and Mildred Little.
